Have a look at "General Nostalgia Talk" in the "Daimler powered race cars" thread page 2, dragamx, there's a shot of it in 1991/2 when it was Daimler powered and called Doodle Bug.

Time travel are sure it became Doddle Bug? I'm sure I've seen a pic on the net of Metronome with circuit racing style slicks on the rear, unblown daimler lump and lowered front end running possibly at blackbushe in the late seventies. Doodle Bug was on the scene by then - hi-rise stance, blown and with all the front body work present .. running at York and the Pod. Metronome had most of the front end chopped out to accomodate that blown hemi.
Two different cars I think .. I'm probably wrong though!

This is probably the pic you're thinking of Badger, it was taken at the 'Bushe in '75. I don't think it ran like this after '75 and as far as I know Doodle Bug didn't appear until '83. I still reckon it's the same car but would be interested in what anybody else thinks....

I doesn't say in the caption it wasn't originally Metronome though.
I think Doodle Bug ran until 84 when it was in silver paint I think by that time. It may of been running at the Aug 83 meet? Didn't you visit York around that time? .. I seem to remember some pics in one of your albums.

Yes I went to York for the August '83 meet and took this pic. I'm begining to wonder if it is the same car now, if you compare the pics Doodle Bug doesn't have the huge cut outs for the rear slicks which the original Metronome had....

There may be some of the original car underneath, but it's a replacement body, ref the metronome pic not a lot of front end bodywork left.
Nick be great to see the rest of your pics from the York meet, any chance of a look on an upcoming update of the Time Travel site?

it is quite likely as it is missing the side doors same as metronome also the body on metronome was a special lightweight body also metronome front end was cut out would it have been worth repairing a new section on

I dont know if this helps, but Doogle Bug had a 1 in box section chassis with just the roll cage in tube.
I will have to make a effort and find all my photos. (Found most of my negs in the attic the other week, but due to the cold and damp are not in to good condition. I have also just got a scanner what scans negs, so will do my best to have a good look through them)
