The Festival of Power is a traditional Easter weekend motorsport event, unrivalled for the level of family entertainment on offer in one place. Not only does the event host round 1 of the National Drag Racing Championships for many classes, including the hugely popular Motorsport UK British Pro Modified class, you’ll also be able to witness a whole host of bone-shaking exhibition vehicles and a plethora of “off track” entertainment and activities such as stunt shows, monster trucks and even an entire circus!

A jet powered car that throws 15ft flames out of the back at speeds of well over 270mph may sound like something from a comic book, but at Santa Pod, that fantasy becomes a reality with not just 1, but 5 jet cars! And, they come in all manner of shapes and sizes! Martin Hill will be fielding two of the FireForce stable of cars with the classic FireForce 3 Jet Funny Car and the more traditional dragster in the form of FireForce 5. Continuing with the comic book theme, Julian Webb will be bringing out his eye-catching new “Spiderman” dragster and Roger Goring will be running the Ford Mustang bodied “Firestorm”. The Easter weekend is one of very few opportunities where you’ll be able to witness two of these incredible machines running side by side! In addition to these four dragsters and funny cars, you’ll be able to see the showstopping “Oklahoma Willy”, 1958 VW pick up which is a “Best of Show” quality car in itself with an enormous jet engine strapped to the bed!

When people hear the term “Dragster”, they generally think of long, pointy cars with big wheels on the back and little ones on the front and that is exactly what you’ll get with the Top Fuel Dragsters that will be running over the weekend. What you may not realise is that these incredible machines generate 11,000bhp each (your regular road car is generally less than 100bhp!) and can reach speeds in excess of 300mph in less than 4 seconds. When they run on track, even from the spectator banking, the experience is an assault on all your senses – they will quite literally rattle you to the core!

If you can tear yourselves away from the drag strip, you’ll find a complete event in its own right in the Live Action Arena. See multiple world record holding stunt driver Terry Grant and his “fleet” of vehicles, the Team Maximum Lock drift display team all the way from Malta, multiple championship winning motorbike stunt rider Lee Bowers and two Monster Trucks with Swamp Thing and Podzilla! Watch as these gargantuans go head-to-head crushing any vehicles they find in their path in a bid to get the loudest cheers!

The list of what’s on, really does go on and on. Included within your admission tickets is access to a full circus show from John Lawson’s Circus, Titan the Robot will be towering over anyone who dares get near, you’ll be able to get up close and personal to running engines from a Spitfire, there’s a trials bike stunt show from Steve Colley, roaming children’s entertainers and much, much more!

There are a couple of new ticket options on offer for 2023 with the Flexi Ticket, allowing you to purchase day tickets for the event without committing to a specific day until you’re ready to load the car up!
If you’re more of a weekend warrior, and particularly one with a home on wheels, then you may be pleased to hear that you can now quite literally power up your weekend. For the first time at Santa Pod, you can purchase an electric hook-up for your camping pitch for the weekend.
