Giving up their day jobs of over 18 years and hitting the streets in the day and pubs / Clubs by Night to become full time Street entertainers has proved to be a great success, making them very popular in the towns and cities up and down the country. The pair mainly play music from the 1950’s era and sing well known harmonies from great performers such as The Everly Brothers, The Beatles, Elvis Presley and many others. Chris the bassist also writes a lot of his own material which adds a great bonus for the Duo.
Historic Car Display
Swedish Treasure
Janne Johansson from Sweden will be bringing some of his stunning Nostalgia collection to display at this year’s Dragstalgia. Janne has a whole workshop full of cars, parts and historic drag racing memorabilia from all over the world and we’re delighted to welcome Janne and some of his display to Santa Pod for the first time.
Janne will be filling his show worthy, Peterbilt towed, transporter with no less than 4 historic Funny Cars and a fuel altered plus he’ll be bringing a 69 Chevy C20 Ramp Truck towing yet another Funny Car, just like they used to in the good old days. The restored treats are:
- Opel Manta B 1976 Funny Car, ex Björn Andersson & Tage Hammerman
- “Flygvapnet” Datsun 280 ZX 1980 Funny Car, ex Lee Anders Hasselström
- Volvo 343 1979 Funny car, ex body from DEX Volvo, (Björn Ardin)
- “Bubble Up” Pontiac Trans Am 1977 Funny Car, ex Gordie Bonin & Jerry Verhuel
- Plymouth Arrow 1979 Funny Car, ex Lil´John Lombardo (restoration ongoing)
- T-23 Fuel Altered 1975
Janne’s vehicles won’t be running on track, but instead populating the show marquee with the Björn Andersson Manta and Lee Anders Hasselström Datsun being fired up to cackle throughout the weekend, including participation in the Cracklefest.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get up close and personal with some meticulously restored Funny Cars from yesteryear.
Photo Recreation
Whilst Janne’s cars are here, we’re also going to take the opportunity to combine his cars with the current crop of European Nostalgia Funny Cars in a bid to recreate the iconic photo (above) of the line-up on the Friday evening. Who knows, we may even be able to line up even more floppers than we did in the original photo.
Fire Burnouts
Undoubtedly one of the highlights of the event (and year) is the annual fire burnout display. Watch in amazement as man and machine strap in, set themselves on fire and then light up the tyres. Saturday Evening
Wall of Death
The Fox family have been touring and entertaining since the 1920’s. With their vintage Indian Scouts and 20ft high vertical wall it is a show that needs to be seen to be believed! The noise, the speed, the smell, the proximity of the bikes ridden to the top of the wall, barely 6 inches from the audience – an experience never to be forgotten!
Oklahoma Willy – The Jet Bus
This 1958 VW pick up spent most of her life on a farm in Oklahoma. Over the last 4 years the truck has undergone a total nut and bolt restoration and has been re-engineered to introduce modern components. The Rolls Royce Viper 535 jet engine is from a fighter jet with an afterburner added to produce a maximum power output of 5000 lbs of thrust which can be roughly translated to 5000 BHP.
