Nice idea, but that car is still racing I believe and certainly wasn't as substantial as a fuel or Pro Comp car.

It certainly looks in the right zone on the illustration, but Turbo Saxon wasn't a big car .. also I think it's still around? Locomotion - Paul Harvey. Didn't it run at London airport a few years back with the Ford Windsor lump in it? From that angle on the illust it ceratinly looks like a promising candidate though.

I remember that car, it ran little flappy flaps over the end of each of the headers which opened and closed with each exhaust stroke. Dont know what purpose they served, but they made my dad smile...

Just for the record the little flappy flaps were to prevent stones from the slicks being flung into the header when the car was being pushed or towed. It serves two purposes, 1 it's possible that if an exhaust valve is open a stone could enter the combustion chamber, 2 a stone in the header can turn into a bullet on start up. Niether of these things are a good thing.

Oh yes, the same purpose served by the ubiquitous string of half tennis balls. I just wondered what advantage the extra mechanical (and presumably heavy) devices had over said tennis ball or beer can devices...
