Nice idea Jaytee, but I've been in touch with the Austrian owner of the 'mystery car' and comparing it to the real thing he doesn't think that's it. Close, but no cigar. We both still think the key is the unusual front end mount. I have a feeling I've seen it before, somewhere, a verrrryy long time ago.

Looking on page 4 for the chassis in primer pics it says Bandwidth exceeded----can any body get them back on again?? We need a collective effort to crack this-the reputation of this forum is at stake!!!!!!!

Yes, sorry about that, it seems I've downloaded too much this month already!!! I blame the UK Rodding History forum on the NSRA website, as I'v been posting pics of the early days. I guess I won't be able to post any more until next month. I may try another hosting service in the meantime.

8 Months since the last post in this thread and the longest running question on the board still continues.
Any of our new batch of members have any idea?

I cant see the detail in those photo's too well, but there are features on that very sad looking chassis that remind me of features on a rail that I had a hand in building and drove occasionally when Ray couldn't, the small block injected 'Sinclair & Little' senior dragster; that flat plate where the four frame rails meet is exactly the same, with the front axle located by four exhaust type clamps. The way the steering is mounted also looks very similar, straight down the middle of the frame to a small rack and pinion. The car was painted green and black. When first put together it had a three hoop cage and no wing, and had a quick change rear, so there would clearly be changes around the back end of the car.
I would suggest Herb or EC get round to Rogers and show him the pics, see if he has any of the build pics anywhere or if he knows where the frame went....

Thanks Martyn.
Here's a picture of the car from the Steve Wollatt collection on the Acceleration Archive.
