Again from a earlier edition of Vauxhall Motorist; Colin Mullan's Invader. Now this is an altered that should be recreated for its looks alone. Period 1971/72. Great looking car.

In the article in mention's Collin and Ruben Johnson's very first Invader Vauxhall. Has anyone got any photos of that before it got smashed up at Ipswich Stadium. I assuming it was at Foxhall Heath Stock Car track this incident happened!

Of course. Thanks TT. I didn't know that Kenny Coleman had it last. Dare I ask if there are any photos of it around.

I have not looked at the funny car feature in Speed and Power for a long time, but the burnout shot of Dennis in the STP Avenger is still one of the favourite shots I took.

The Skilton car was neat. At Snetterton I took a shot at the top end that showed how much the roof was caving in at speed. The team hastily strengthened it up after realising what was happening.

Good to see the pic of Colin's Invader. He is such a nice guy, and it was good to have the chance to chat with him at the last 2 Dragstalgia meetings. I remember I organised a drag racing display at a local carnival in Wokingham, around 1971-2, and was looking for machines to display. Colin arrived from some distance away with Invader on his wagon, dumped it off in the field, propped the body open - and waved goodbye with a 'see you at the end of the day!' I was quite amazed that he would leave the car with an irresponsible young bloke.
He did eventually return as promised, after the field was virtually deserted!

Good to hear that you are enjoying your trip back in time Keith with the Speed & Power articles although they will be coming to an end shortly. :(

I think there's one of my pics in the ukdrn photo gallery's of 'Coleman's Mustard'! They didn't run it for very long - quite entertaining to watch!

From memory Jon, some 9 of the funny car pictures were mine, plus all of the bike feature, and DLT piece.
A lot of the writing was mine as well in Speed and Power pieces.
I think the Dennis Priddle feature I did was my favourite, after they gave me a little advice. There were about 10 pictures used in my article - and they all came from 1 roll of film! That is what you call economical shooting.
