Hmmm?
I'm not sure that you would get greater volume but it may have been that the "Ram Air" effect at the top end was upsetting the fuel/air mixture too much. A lot of the rods running triple carbs seem to run with the curved ram intake facing backwards as well.

Hello Arthur.
The straps are to keep the supercharger on the engine if a major backfire occurs in the manifold due to dropping an intake valve or running out of fuel with the pedal down etc. Its all part of the rules now combined with a burst panel at the front of the manifold and aluminium studs to bolt the blower down.The idea is for the burst panel to open and release the pressure and if the backfire is a big one the ally studs will shear allowing the blower to lift and release the pressure. the straps should be the correct length so that the blower can only lift as little as possible. There are rules about the straps being too long because if the blower lifts too high then the fuel lines going to the barrell valve will be ripped off usually causing a fire-- not good if you're sat behind the motor!! :shock:
