....but this is! Found on eBay by me a year ago & I thought I'd share it with you all. It's approx 18" x 12", oil on canvas & has what looks like the original rear paper backing with the framer's label. I reckon it's the original, going by the telephone number shown! Also interesting to note where it was framed, within a short distance of Allards Clapham base!!! Anyone care to speculate on its provenance??? There is what may be a signature but it's pretty much unreadable.

Looking back at the shots of the car it ran with 2 widths of steel rear wheels but I was wondering did they try mag wheels and go back to steels for some reason and the mags reappeared on the later car

They had the mag wheels and wider slicks fitted for the Church Lawford Sprint in August '63 where it ran a 10.91 on a wet strip, then in September at Silverstone in the dry the Allard dragster was bogging off the line and unable to break traction. At the '64 Dragfests the narrow slicks and steels were back on and it was back to smoky runs and clocked it's best ever 10.28 at Blackbushe. My guess is the mags and wide slicks went on the later car.....

Dare I say it, I prefer the look of the car without the front bodywork.
It's very unassuming with the body on and is easy to forget that it's running a Hemi.

What are the front wheels? Are they specials or are they off some obscure car?

Prior to the 1961 Brighton Speed Trials Autosport ran this article in July, titled "Allards day at Brands
Theres a mention about the Lotus alloy wheels

Herb
Its not the cost of the parts
its what you do with them
