The 2017 Santa Pod Summer Nationals has always been a favourite meeting of mine. Featuring great top sportsman racing, a good field of Pro Mods and Nostalgia funny cars thrown in for good measure. But for some reason, this year event was never meant to be.
Sunday's weather was all over the place and despite the usual fantastic efforts to dry the track after a massive downpour on Sunday, the meeting was finally finished off in a terrible way with the crash of Andy Bond's trick Chevy.
Thankfully and the main thing is that I hear that Andy isn't too bad and hopefully the car can be rebuilt.
