Black A40---Thats Thomas.

How long you been going drag racing Thomas?
Ive been going for years, since i was about 7...my dad has always built v8 magnums and raced them at the strips.
I hope you have fun with your car, I think you spent your EMA wisely, better than my son did anyway :)
Lol thanks mate :D I love the car to bits, and if this year goes well for it, i have some nice little plans for it over the winter :)

Great pictures john,

Just out of intrest what shutter speed do you use to get this effect.

I am currently experimenting with 1/500 and getting the blured/speed background effect but not as much as these

I don't think I'm qualified enough to give photography advice but to try and answer your question...
It depends on what effect your after I guess, I'm a bit old fashioned and like to try and get the vehicle I'm shooting in focus so you can see it where some others like to go with the out of focus look which I personally don't like.
I guess my best advice would be just experiment with different shutter speeds to achive the results your after.
Work your way down from 1/500th and see where you end up, if I'm having a really good day the best I can go down to is 1/160th but I do have a huge amount of failures at that speed, I hope that helps :?

Thanks for the info John. I have only recently bought my DSLR so still on a learning curve with it. I dont get much time to practice with it down the pod but when i do i will try the lower speeds and see what results i get.
