i had a great weekend as we ran 9.96/110 first out with a big wheelie pulling the chute at 1000ft to test the new chute,back to the pits for a quick check (3 hrs) of the chassis as i was told there was about 9 inches of air under the front tyres....oh and wind the wheelie bars down a bit...

sunday opened with a strong burnout,hit it on the green picking the fronts up less and running 8.703/145 for a new best time.

2nd pass resulted in a big burnout getting the grandstands a good view of the roof as it went up on to two wheels,same launch as usual (no transbrake) toe in all the way to a 8.564/147....

i spent part of the weekend crewing for dave marsh and his standard 8 comp coupe (pic 9 on pad's post) got some good runs in with it,had a few issues to sort out but we found them and got them fixed..

massive thanks to jerry and the track crew as the surface was so sticky and a pleasure to race on...

We had a great weekend, for what should have been a shakedown weekend we seemed to get the deal together straight away.

Twister was completed on the thursday night and loaded into the wagon on friday morning with no road tests. Arriving at Shakey, I drove it round the pits once and then got ready for saturday morning.

First run, no burn out, no transbrake...just drove it off the line and kept it really straight with an early shutdown...10.4 @ 110.

Second pass, no transbrake again just launched off the brake and kept the revs low and short shifted, shut off at the 1000...9.4 @ 119.

We messed with the slicks for a while before giving up because our lack of experience meant we couldn't get the pressures sorted..the thing just wanted to wallow around towards the top of the track. Conflicting advice meant the slicks were relegated to the back of the truck and the road tyres fitted again.

Another steady 3rd run in full street trim and we saw a 8.81 @ 144.

Runs five and six were while we competed in the National Street Car Challenge. Run 5 and we leant on it a bit more, still only running the 6 lbs of boost but a small sniff of gas to keep everything safe. I run the nitrous a bit rich, detonation in the past has cost me very dearly. A 8.48 pass at 165 made me a happy chappy.

This lead us to the finals and a nice steady pass with transbrake set to 2200 revs meant we only saw a 1.5 sec 60ft...this being 3/10s down on our previous run and proving the track was beginning to go away. Small amount of tyre shake and a reward of 8.384 @ 174. This is a new record for NSCC !!

We are planning some more research with the slicks at the Nostalgias and upping the boost to 9 psi. No increase in nitrous is planned for the moment and we are hoping to nudge into the 7's.

storming times there Andy, big MPH too

On the 60ft times, chipping the launch rpm don't do much other than save the motor banging off the two step, the convertor flashes to stall when you come off the button anyway but theres the slight dealy between launch RPM and stall. Up the RPM and leave just below the convertor stall and stage deeper !

On the slicks, what pressure you running ? radial or bias ply ? You should probably be running a stiff sidewall slick up at about 10psi I'd say, any lower pressure or run a soft sidewall and it will sway in the sidewalls midtrack, squeaky bum time then as you don't know if it's gonna step out on you.

Looking forward to competing with the Supercharged Outlaws again this season and our first meeting shall be at the Yanks Weekend at Shakey.

Lots of work done to Twister this off season and we're coming out with over 1500 hp and same in torque so I'm hoping that we shall make a good showing. Its still street driven and I'm hoping we shall see our first 7 at this event.

We competed at York last weekend on a very marginal track...our best 60 ft was 1.7 !!

Still, it didn't stop us running a 8.98 @ 173......even with a 1.92 - 60 ft...do the math and thats a low 8 or late 7.
