I'm trying to get a history file together for DC102, a blown Triumph bike from the 70's, and was wondering if anyone can shed some light please.

So far the only info I’m aware of is that it ran at Blackbushe in August 1975, and at Long Marston in August 1979 with Ashton Cox as the rider. No idea of builder etc.
Was told it ran in the 9s on nitro, but that’s about it.

The bike had been shed-stored for over 30 years when purchased in 2013 Fortunately the engine turned over by hand, no nasty noises emitted from the shorrock and the gears selected too!
The bike will undergo a full rebuild, with the plan to ride at VMCC Sprints and NSA meetings, using methanol.

Thanks for any help.

I'm afraid that I can't give you a great deal of info about the bike. Ashton called the bike Wild Dream and it had a s/c 650 Triumph engine. He raced the bike several times in 1975 at Wroughton, Snetterton and Blackbushe. Don't think he drag raced it at all in 1976 but he was back in 1977 and 1978 racing at the NDRC Midlands meetings at Long Marston. I haven't been able to find any mention of him at all in any of the race reports.

I cannot find any trace of him drag racing at Santa Pod although he did enter the NSA June 1976 sprint at the Pod but he didn't finish in the top 3 in his class.

So far Oily I have found that Ashton raced the bike at Long Marston in 1979 at August 12th meeting where he won Bike Bracket Group D, and the Custom Fasteners Challenge Trophy meet in September and come second to Paul Eastbury in Bike Bracket Group C (Eighth mile competition).

Was entered for the 1978 17th August eighth mile meet at Long Marston. No results found.

Back tracking to 1977, Ashton was placed tenth in the NDRC Midlands John Rotherham Motorcycle Championship.

I will keep looking.

He was entered in the NSA sprint at Long Marston on the 3rd September 1978 and made runs of 12.20,12.24, 12.31, 12.26 and 12.20. That's what you call consistent!

Thought I’d ‘bump’ this thread just in case anyone else can offer any information on the history of this bike. Any info/photos gratefully received.

I must apologise for not thanking CRR and muddytalker at the time when they posted their replies, sorry chaps!

The bike’s restoration has progressed some, maybe not as fast as I’d hoped, but the front end is done, rear wheel is now a spoked items (as it was before the Suzuki cast wheel as introduced), engine has undergone a full rebuild. But that still leaves a fair few things on the to-do list.....

Ideally I’d like to do a direct replacement of the ¼ swing ball-valve that was used to cut the fuel by means of a handlebar operated lever/cable. I’ve seen similar items but ideally would like to find the same unit - anyone know where these can be found nowadays? Have seen similar/same (?) on John Hobbs’ Olympus. Thanks.

Photos of DC102 back in the day found on the web may jog a memory or two - note sure who to credit with these....... but thanks to whoever took them

Pulling the engine revealed a lot of strengthening had been added to the cases. Someone had put a serious amount of time and effort into building the motor.

Engine rebuild.

All the normal engine re-build requirements were done (sounds quick & easy writing down like this), a Morgo plunger oil pump was fitted along with a SRM oil pressure release valve, paint work (barrels) and chrome work (hold down kit) redone.

Big thanks go to Andy F for so much help and tech know how - thanks matey!
