Ian Hampstead's escort in that late guise was an absolute rocket! I think it held the class et record for a while .. it's a bit of an old tubed custom too with those rear lights and frenched plate!
I've got quite a few rover pics from the york rounds, I'll scan a few ..

There was a small pic in Street Machine magazine many moons ago of Ians Escort,it was then i think Pinto powered,standed ride hight,stock width rear end and gold centred compromotive? wheels.Body wise-rear lights and colour looked as in that pic posted on page 5 earlier.
I read somewhere? that Ian has just sold the car

Santa Pod did take a while to separate the Rover class but by the July Cannonball meet in 1990 they were listed as a distinct group.
