A few years ago Graham Beckwith compiled records for all the classes at York. It was posted as a feature on the York raceway website.

I think I've seen Andy Craddock run a 6 at York.

I think they ran twice that year at York. Certainly in May.

The six though was in Frontline colours .. if indeed they did run a 6.
I'll try and find out.

On the note of York Raceway and top fuel Norm Wheeldon told me a story when he was building my Dads car.

He said when they built the concrete launch pad they got a TF or Top Alcohol car there to test it. He said the car went into stage and the rear wheels were over the end of the concrete!

Made me laugh.

Also heard various stories of alterds running over rabbits at the top end!

Norm knew some great stories! He should get posting here!

The September 1983 meet at New York Raceway saw Andy Craddock in the "Frontline Video" Fueller run a 6.75/222m.p.h. followed by a 6.42/222m.p.h. which must be the record unless anybody else has gone quicker since.

Thanks for sorting that one out TT.
Is York the country's third quickest strip, or were better numbers run at Blackbushe, Weald Snetterton or Elvington?
Don't think they ever did the 1/4 at Elvington did they?
