I sent the pics Sid posted, to Pete Hollingsworth and his reply was:

wow...its my old un !

It was the rainmaker injected rat and roz priors before, forgot the name of the chassis builder but it was a big deal before the roz prior phase.

I think it ran 11.2 or so with the flathead

I sold it to a guy in farnham ( pig pen) who only ran it a couple of times and had a collection of oddball cars

Herb

Bill, it is Bruce Browns Age Machine, before it became John Wright and John Suttons Rainmaker.

So from information posted on the forum some history about the car
Built by Allan Herridge in 69 for Pete "Snoopy" Bennett' .
Pete ran it in 1970 before selling it to Bruce Brown in '71 to become the well known ''Age Machine''.

Dave Prior in the car at Blackbushe in '73 when he'd just purchased it from Bruce Brown with the intention of driving it himself. As you can see it was a tight fit and at the next meeting at Santa Pod Roz had a go in the car and became an instant crowd favorite running 10.12/148m.p.h. and went on to race the car full time Image

After Roz Prior had it it was raced by John Sutton and John Wright then Pete had it before it became ''Pigpen''

I found the NSRA thread:

http://www.nsra.org.uk/newforum/showthr ... ter&page=2

I'm fairly certain that post 13 by Nick in response to "Timetravel do you have any pics of the hollingsworth rail" is not the Holligsworth car but Vintage Tin - see http://www.timemachine.co.uk/?page=image&image=8 and look at sticker placement.

I would correct the NSRA thread but I don't have a log in for it and only have a small amount of my lunch break left.

More pics of Vintage Tin:

Apologies for the thread hijack but I do love flattie rails :-)

Not wanting to sound like a right dick, is this meant to be the same car? must have done a lot of work on it, the cage looks diffrent, the front of the chassis looks diffrent (Cross members missing) and most of all the steering arms are to the bottom rear and not top front like on pig pen. I can understand that the cage could have been upgraded, but to completely change the steering!!!!!
I agree it could be the old Vintage Tin car. Well the bodywork anyway, but still confused about the steering.

Give me a clue how the exhaust work.
