I'm not sure the second High Performance Motor Show ever took place! As a Mancunian school kid at the time, desperate to see some Drag cars in the flesh for the first time, I remember responding to this ad (pic taken from the programme of the first event ) and standing outside the venue in the freezing cold waiting for it to open. Which it never did!!! Obviously cancelled at the last minute. I wrote off a letter of complaint a few days later to Drag Racing & Hot Rod Mag, but got no reply...
Some months later there was a Drag Racing show held at the Norbreck Hydro Hotel near Blackpool, at which I exhibited some of my plastic model Drag cars. Drag Racing & Hot Rod mentioned me in the report: 'Phil Waters has got to be the hottest modeller in the North!!' Fame at last, made a school boy very happy!
