Something a bit special in the way of some good quailty colour shots from 1966 at Santa Pod.
Possibly the 1st event although I'm not sure.
All kindly sent to me by David Mongomery.

Brian Witty was an ex-stock car racer and a member of the Highwaymen from Hayes along with Allan Herridge. He later moved up north and wasn't heard from for a while until he entered the '65 Dragfests with an ohv Mercury V8 rail called "NorWesterner" and he also ran an updated version of it at Santa Pod in '66 as well as street cars.

car with dummy blower was the Black Widow model T hot rod of Pete farris from Nottingham. He built a few cars, still does, His most famous car was the Dr. Who flying saucer as featured earlier in this thread.
Not known other than the rod features a dummy blower!

A selection of great shots from Brian Sparrow of Rod George and Dave Wilson's team Krypton dragster.
This car was the ex "Stormbringer" car driven by Pete Crane and was bought as a rolling chassis by Dave and Rod. Powered by a S&W Racecars 426ci methanol burning Keith Black motor 'Krypton', would go on to run the teams first 6 second passes, before its untimely demise at York Raceway. After a stout 7.26 - 196mph charge, Dave went through the timing beams upside down, beating Jim Read but breaking his neck in the process!
Thankfully as we know Dave carriedon racing and has had a very successful career.
He is still racing today in his beautiful A-Fuel dragster that has been for sale for many years.

I seem to recall that Dave Jones was involved with Tony Froome's Sundance team somewhere down the line and that it was one of his chassis. I'll have to do some detective work. If Bazz Young is reading this then perhaps he might be able to shed some light on the cars short history!
From what i recall Dave Jones bought Tony"s rail, then fell of the radar i was going to crew for him
