Thanks so much for posting the pic of me on Cloud Nine. That was such a great bike to ride..really easy. Superbike Mike took a few passes on it at the Transatlantic Races in 1983 before the races got underway. It had so many little "trick" pieces on it. I really regret selling the bike now but i gather it has a new home following its recent auction (Steve Tong Estate).

No problem Geoff. If I come across a few more in my slide collection I'll post them up on here. I didn't know that Superbike Mike took a few rides on the bike at Long Marston. I always loved the sight of the Pro Stock class in the eighties due to the fact you could see an exposed bike rather than today's aero dynamic 'crotch rockets'. The class had quite a few nice pieces in its time but its pleasing to hear that a few still remain as they are. It's a pity that we don't see Kev Marshal's Old Skool Suzuki Stocker at the strips since 2010. Maybe this year Kev will consider thrilling us all again with his no holds barred riding antics! :D

During 1982 i got to know Mike via Jack O Malley and at the end of 1982 with Mikes guidance i put a much bigger motor in the bike Complete with a Superbike Mike Cylinder Head. In fact the chassis length, gear ratio's where exactly the same as Mikes own bike. When he came over for the Transatlantic series they flew in on the tuesday and i picked Mike, his wife, Jack O Malley and John Baugh up from Heathrow. We came straight up to the track and on the wednesday he took my bike out to get a feel for the track and see what he could do with it. No times where recorded. Mike was and still is a really nice guy.

Geoff how good were the road race style rear slicks back then

I don't know we used Goodyear Pro Stock slicks...on average 5 runs a tyre..then change it. My bike had a special rim on the back to take the 8 inch wide slicks we where using then.

Chris Richards burns out his blown 740cc Triumph against the modified Mini pick up owned back then by Bandbury Drag & Custom Club Chairman Howard Ellis.

According to the entry list Dave for 2nd September 1979, Paul's bike was a 720cc Honda called Samuri.
