It was good to get involved with Dragstalgia this year, arranging the NSA shootout as part of the event.
Taking on the lessons learned from last years initial event, James and the Pod crew put on a great meet this time.
The track crew worked tirelessly on Saturday - both during and following the heavy rain - to ensure the event would happen.
Watching the crew in action, it was pleasing to see that a little leeway was given to the racers and their historic machines, which was appreciated.
The most surprising sight to me, while commentating on the bikes with Darryl, was being confronted by a bike approaching the start line, having appeared from the spectator side of the track! Dennis Norman's twin Triumph was originally planned to be in the marquee, but there was his grandson Matthew out on the bike. That must be a first, and made the day for Dennis.
Some people were maybe confused about Methamon being there, but sidecar outfits used to drag race back in the early days, and raced against solos. It was cruel that the bike suffered mechanical issues after running flawlessly since its recent rebuild, but so fitting that it was there for the event. Original rider Maurice Brierley was racing at the same Dragfest as Sydney Allard's own Allard dragster.
