If my memory is correct the Jim Whelan car was Nobby Hills Corvette which ran the first 5.9 second run in the UK.
It was a different model corvette to Nobby's, more likely the ex Tom Hoover corvette. Jim Whelan had 2 different bodies or possibly 2 different cars.

After a bit of research I reckon that there was two chassis and two bodies. He originally acquired the ex Nobby Hills Corvette which was sold as a roller. The Probe body was new but I do not know where the chassis came from. I understand that Ray Pearce (ex Houndog crew) did some work on the Probe body.
I am unaware of where Brian Gandy obtained his chassis.

Yes the other body was a probe. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the car was in a museum at Donnington. I think it reappeared briefly in the hands of Tony Baker.

The car prior to the first Funny was the ex Richard Eaton Duster.
I have been having further thoughts on the original question posed and wonder if Jim Whelan got a new chassis built by Nobby Hills.
