Paul has very kindly sent me some great pictures of something special he has sitting in his garage...the Time and Motion Mustang Funny Car.
The car looked very nostalgic back then and would fit in perfectly today at any nostalgic funnycar race.
As you see the car still looks stunning today.

The car was first powered by a 426 (ex Firefly I think). The block was later scrapped and replaced with an alloy Keith Black item, The cast iron heads are still in the car, along with the rocker covers and various other bits.

Paul says 'The car was imported from the USA on my behalf by Roy Phelps. It was minus the motor and the shell had been badly burnt in a race fire. Roy took the car to FibreGlass Repairs and made a mould from the damaged body, when I finally collected the car it was fitted with its new body in primer'.

The history of the car is uncertain, Paul never managed to find a number on the chassis. He thinks it may have been a Shirl Greer car.

Maybe someone else could shed some light onto its history?

Thanks again for the pictures Paul.

What great news. I always wondered what happened to that car, one of the best looking Funny Cars to run in this country. Wouldn't it be good to see it at the Nostalgia Drags. Here's a couple of pics I took at Santa Pod in April 1980. Image Image

That's one amazing looking flopper, hopefully someone can update it and bring it out in 2008 along with the other nostalgia funny cars.

It is amazing to think that there are cars sitting around in garages like that, unchanged for years. I'd love to see it on track as original as possible.

I just saw a link from Limey on the Classic Funny Car Forum that leds to this thread. I happen to be filming the Southern Nostalgia Shootout, in Cecil, Georgia about 3 weeks ago. Who should show up but Shirl Greer, Al Hoffman and Don Garlits. Shirl had one of his Nostalgia Mustangs there, his blue Chained Lightning Mustang. They had trouble with it all weekend, and never made a pass, but he's still out there.
Nice web site, Its good to see the UK keeping up with the Nostalgia scene, Its getting bigger every year over here. I make Nostalgia Drag Racing DVDs of major nostalgia events around the Midwest area. If you get time check out my website. I will leave you with a link to my Google Video site. I have video clips from some recent events. This link leeds to a clip of something you don"t see everyday. Don Garlits on a exhibition run in his Swamp Rat VIII (his 1st 426 Hemi car) the track had so much bit, the 426 had so much torque that when the car hooked up it did a 180 into the other lane and the another 180 back. Check out the clip and the others, then pass the link around for others to see. Thanks John Nance
