Hi all,

Just had a reply from Brian Greer (son of Shirl and currently racing Alky FC) with regards to possibly identifying the cars' previous life, as follows:

"Thanks for the link to the pics.. That certainly is a great looking car! The interior did look familiar. The firebottle mounted on the steering column but, alot of cars were like that back then. The brakehandle also looks like the one I remember being in that car. Ask Paul to check the 2 bars mounted directly behind the drivers' head in the rollcage. I'm pretty sure that Dad had welded a horseshoe in between the 2. The car originally had Halibrands on the front & rear but, they were exchanged for the Cragar or Centerline style wheels like the ones that were shown in the photos. The car was originally built by Cecil Hicks if that helps? I will ask Dad if there are anymore distinguishing features or add-ons. I'll get back with you on that. He always adds little things to his cars to kinda personalize them.

Your pal,
Brian Greer
(3rd Son of the first 1 AA/FC) "

Here's a pic of the car on the cover of car craft that Brian sent.

Brian says he'll get back to be about further identifying marks after speaking with his dad and I'll keep you updated as and when I hear anything.

Thank you very much for the help Chris. Paul is going to check the car for the details you mention but he thinks the rollcage was replaced by Alan Herridge before he got it, I will post his findings when I have them.
Paul has told me a interesting coincidence regarding the original wheels.

' Roy Phelps did not want Time & Motion to run with the (at the time dated) 5 spoke american racing rims and persuaded me to fit the centreline style wheels which are still currently on the car. I sold the 5 spokes to a friend back then who wanted to start up in drag racing, I haven't seen this friend for nearly 20 years, and he turns up on my doorstep to 'catch up' 2 days ago, I mentioned the wheels to him, and he still had them stored in a local lock-up garage, we struck a deal, and yesterday I become reunited with them after 25 years!'
