Hi all a quick update with where we are with Excalibur we are all prepped for bit of surgery, so our attention has been now on the engine, we did plan on putting my spare 426 in it but have decided even with the extra costs we will stick with the Donovan as nick and sue intended,we have slight problem with way it has been previously set as I've read a lot into these things etc etc I've decided put a smaller stroke crank in the car keeping the Pistons the same bore and give the car more spark and fuel, I think it will run a lot better like this I won't delve to much into the finer details just yet but we are after the car to run and run well so few more parts on there way, so busy as usual but moving forward will keep you all updated thanks for looking James

Well done on getting the upgrades sorted and keeping us up to date. You did pose the question earlier in this thread (Mar 31st) about when the last pair of sling shot top fuellers ran together and I suspect it would have been around 1974/5 with the old "Mr Six"driven by Ros Prior and the "Mr Revell" car driven by Dennis Priddle. Certainly after 1973 I think new TF cars built were Rear-engined.

Hi Phil thanks for looking, your almost there i believe the last time there was side by side nitro slingshots was 1976 between Roz prior in mr.6 and Ronnie picardo in firefly? four years before i was born.
We are on track etc as things are going so far so keep checking but aiming for some side by side nitro next year won't be setting any records I'm a realist and they will go down the track together 42 years after the last time and like me a lot of the current fan base would of never seen, slingshots have come on leaps and bounds in last couple of years very exciting times thanks James.

Hi all brother leaked a pic so thought I would post it on here, the cage has been replaced as when kev sat in it he just wasn’t comfy so cage has been lifted 2” and the front hoop a lot more of a period curve and it looks real nice, also we’ve had few safety parts changed and twin chutes so car is now all current nostalgia top fuel which is right where we need to be.....
