SPECIAL LEGENDS BENCH RACING SESSION AT BRITISH DRAG RACING HALL OF FAME GALA

The British Drag Racing Hall of Fame (BDRHoF) Gala Awards Dinner has become an even bigger event so why not make a day of it? Thanks to Beech Underwriting, supported by US Automotive and Julie Braskett, the day will now include a Bench Racing Session featuring some of the most well-known and respected names in the world of drag racing talking about what it was like back in the day.

Those who have confirmed they will be taking part so far include Big Daddy Don Garlits, Rat Trap’s Ron Hope, Freight Train’s Bob Muravez (AKA Floyd Lippencotte Jnr), Funny Car Champion Bruce Larson, Blue Max Crew Chief ‘Waterbed’ Fred Miller, Norwegian drag racing pioneer Fred Larsen, the NHRA’s Eileen Daniels, TV Network broadcaster Jack Korpela and Top Fuel Bike champion Larry McBride.

The session will be captured on video and will take place in the Library at the Savill Court Hotel. It is due to start at 1.00pm Saturday November 21st but will be concluded by 3.00pm giving everyone ample time to get ready for the Gala Awards Dinner later that day. It will be free to entry with preference given to those attending the Gala Dinner, but space could be limited. Questions from the floor will be welcomed.

Also being filmed for the Quarter Mile Foundation’s Project 1320 TV series about the history of American drag racing and the performance parts industry will be several Europeans who can recall the early days of obtaining drag racing parts as the sport grew this side of the Atlantic. This will take place before lunch and those already down for interview include Roy Phelps, Barry Sheavills, Gary Page, Russ Carpenter, John Hobbs and Steve Trice. Face-to-face press interviews are also being arranged for invited journalists.
