Came across some video from 1963 and 1964 Brighton Speed Trials on the Brighton and Hove Motor Club site at
http://www.brightonandhovemotorclub.co.uk
There's a list of options of the left of the page including "Speed Trials news video from 1963". The B/W footage is from Pathe News and includes runs by the original Allard dragster; "Mooneyes" and Mickey Thompson - who is refered to by Pathe as "an American" - the voice over is studio added and they obviously didn't know who the dragster drivers were.
Despite the poor quality, this is a real gem - the moment that drag racing really first made an impact in the UK.
There is also colour footage of the 1964 event which includes the event winning "Moonbeam" with Dante Duce driving - a remarkably smoke-free run. Also, Duce again, this time in car #110, a blue Shelby Cobra entered by Shelby American Inc performing possibly the first burnout in UK Drag Racing history. Enjoy.
