on the way home Saturday evening I saw the 100e gasser pulled over on the hard shoulder on the M40, hope he got home ok

I’m pretty sure he made it home ok as he managed to reply to a mail I sent him regarding your post, with no mention of any incident.......
I’ll delicately enquire when I next see him.
