Wow, just saw the pics of the model car meets, some of which I'd not seen before either, brilliant!!!

Finally, the last of the contents of the envelope are some compliments slips & a blank membership card, so thank you & good night!!

These are printed on very thick card & are for the "annual" Whitsun Drag Race, but it doesn't say where!

That would be the 2nd Big Go at Duxford.

The first two were held at Duxford before moving to Santa Pod in '66 where it's now known as the Main Event.
Next year will be the 53rd

here's some pics...

If you're interested these are some of the people in these pics.

1) Seated nearest the camera, John Greenwood. On the other side of the track is Pete Bartlett then Sylvia Greenwood & Ann Bennett. I suspect that the little boy next to Ann is her son, John. Looks like the girls are judging the model car show entries.

2) Ann Bennett & Sylvia Greenwood picking the cars to pieces!

3) The girls getting stuck into racing with JB behind them.

4) Ann racing someone, don't know who he was.

5) Same race, same contestants but with Brian Sparrow looking on (he's either fallen through a hole in the floor or is sitting down!). Note the BHRA decal on the timing system box!

6) Ann looking bored (she's actually getting ready to record the times as Pete calls them out) & Pete Bartlett on the other side, operating the timing system.

7) Prize giving by the look of it, JB on the mike with a local dignatory no doubt doing the presenting, giving Pete Bartlett behind, time to have a quick drag(!) of his fag!!

Those trophies do look pretty good, don't they? Wonder if anyone still has one tucked away somewhere in their loft?

yes some of them had that date on the back

Very good, even earlier than the cards. All prior to the Drag Fests too.
