While routing round in my dad’s loft recently I came across a few old drag racing comic books from the late sixties and early seventies. Not the famous and hilariously funny Pete Miller ‘Cartoons’ but a series produced by Charlton Comics called ‘Drag-Strip Hotrodders’. Charlton also produced 'Grand Prix formerly Hot Rod Racers' and 'Hot Rods and Racing Cars with Clint Curtis and the Road Knights'. Much later in the seventies was 'Drag N’ Wheels' which I could only find one copy. With the festive season now upon us I thought that it would be nice to scan a few of the stories for forum members to enjoy. So today we start of with The Wheelstanders from 1965. Enjoy.

Today's two part comic strip comes from the May 1972 issue of Drag N' Wheels (UK price 6p) featuring the racing talents of Scot Jackson in The Passenger. From the drawing's talents of Jack Keller he's based three of the comic strips period cars on well known dragsters and funny cars. Can you name them?

Maybe so but I'm sure that Tiger comic also ran a story with a drag racing theme with either Skid Solo or Martin's Marvelous Mini. They did a stock car story as well. Wish I still had the copies. Could be worth a bit now. Well maybe.
