Over the years we've seen quite a few Vauxhall based drag cars at the strips. In the seventies Vauxhall and motorsport went hand in hand with the DTV supported touring cars of Gerry Marshall, the works rally cars driven by Will Sparrow, and the two DTV Chevette bodied altereds. In the early to mid seventies Vauxhall produced it's own in house magazine - Vauxhall Motorist - which anyone could buy from a Vauxhall dealers for 12 1/2 pence. Occasionally the magazine's editors would carry article about drag racing focusing naturally on Vauxhall dragsters. Here's one of those articles written and photographed by Stuart Dalby published in 1974. How many well known cars can you identify!

In this issue Speed & Power spent some time with Houndog 7 driver Owen Haywood for this feature about what it's like to drive a 2000 bhp Funny Car.

Re: Speed & Power

I got an idea that either Motor magazine of Autocar ran a similar feature first before S&P.

Great articles Jerry, I've never seen those before.
I hope you don't mind but I merged them in all in to this old thread so they don't get lost.

It was Auto car that ran the feature on Clive's car, I was looking at it the other day.

I've got some of those jaytee as well as a few from MCM and Motorcycle Weekly. I think as the month's roll by this thread could be come a huge by summer. I'm sure that the forum members will appreciate reading about all this stuff us anorak's have collected, especially some of the younger members among us. I'm still finding a lot of it in my tidy up mode at the moment.
