Okay one of the most non-original names ever for a new thread but it does give me a chance to post some great pictures.

Sounds like a good theme, I'll have a go, and start with the same name as you, Tony Anderson, earlier blown V6,

great pics Marty, the shot of Commuter shows it with extra streamlining in front of the driver which was done for it's record runs at Elvington

I went to a number of Elvington records weekend, and I was there when Commuter ran flying mile- although it was only a very short run into the mile. Tony ran something like 260 which was fast by the standards of the day, and the rear wheels were very out of shape, not being designed for those sort of speeds. I was sat in my pushcar right behind the startline waiting a turn when Clive Skilton went looking for a 200 terminal on the 1/4, no burnouts then, you came to the line, the RAC steward made sure you were in the correct place on the line, and you went when you were ready. Clive went! Revolution 2 made a fabulous sound, and the engine note went up and didn't lose any revs until he shut it off. But we didn't see a thing! It smoked the whole 1/4, and the smoke took forever to clear, and when it did there were two black lines zigzagging the whole distance.
When he shut it off the whole place went quiet, and then the speed came over the speakers and everyone was whooping and yelling.

Are you sure of that TT? The photo looks as if it was taken in the early 1970's. As far as I am aware, Commuter was only at Elvington in 1967 where it made 5 runs on the standing quarter and 2 runs on the standing 500 metres. I was there to see Commuter and my own first ever 8 second pass.

Commuter went back to Elvington in 1970 and took the flying kilo record away from Bluebird with a two way average 207.6m.p.h. and that's when it had that streamlining fitted. I think Marty's pic is from 1970 probably the August championships going by the start line centre boards

I went to the Elvington Records meetings in 1967, 68, 69 and 1971 but not in 1970. However, I do have the programme from the event which I really should have checked with first. Yes, you are correct TT, Commuter was indeed there, along with Clive Skilton in Revolution, and Gerry Tyack who is still around today as a Vice-President of the Brighton & Hove MC who orgnise the yearly Speed Trials there. There were also lots of well known drag racing bike riders as well.
