Its possible that the Mick Hill Janglia is the same car that raced at Felton.
A brief history-
!967 Built by Richard Scantlebury
1968-1970 Raced by Mick Hill
1971-Raced by Alan Palmer
1972-Raced at Croft by Alan or Tony Tobias with Wynns sponsorship
Now a gap that that matches the time it was raced at Felton by .....a Wynn's rep.
1977 bought from a Mr Holmes in Northumberland by Gary Charlwood a historic saloon racer who
apparently still owns it.Mind you just to confuse things there may have been 2 or even 3 Janglia's built.
God my brain hurts!

I'd say you were a fan of the Special Saloons like me shabby,I saw Scantlebury racing the Janglia at Brands when I was a kid, there were a few others that raced at Santa Pod, John Hewitt 2.5 Climax engined Anglia and maybe Brian Tarrant's 4.7 A40, Dave Brodie's black Escort and I think Gerry Marshall

The Anglia, that the same Mick Hill that ran the capri in super saloons - 74/75?

Yes-After the Capri he built and raced a Chevy powered Beetle, well it was more a Can-Am car with a Beetle body on it!
Sold it to Doug Niven of the Border Reivers team who raced in mainly northern England and Scotland I saw it in Perdals workshops in Newcastle a couple of times.
Chris
PS The Humber,s a Singer Super Vogue.

That Beetle's still around competing in some of the historic Special Saloon circuit races. The turn of speed that thing use to produce was amazing round the tight little Mallory Park circuit back in the day. In fact there's a well informed thread about the 'big banger' days of Special Saloons running on the 10 Tenths forum here http://www.ten-tenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25836 with some great photos including a couple of the aforementioned Beetle.

Yes the third picture is black magic, we used to tear down the motor quite often ,just preventative maintanance as it was a iron motor 427 (originally the malibu express motor) graham bought some air reaserch heads from the states, and we used to strip the studs in the block often, so we had to drill the block and hellicoil them, nearly everytime , but that motor lasted 3 years as well as the work it did with malibu express, and was the quickest alcohol car in britain at one point 7.22 at the 79 internationals.
unfortunately we ran a 3 speed b&m trans, with a hydraulic shift, (ex priddle) and that let us down in the 1st round, so we got the lenco after that and had a trouble free time.
but i think for a 427 all iron motor on methanol at the time the car did us proud, and i was proud to be a part of it.
