Alan Allard's
Chrysler hemi-powered rail gets pushed up the strip at SPR in'68 in preparation
for fire up. Starting top fuel dragsters was a drawn
out process at the time with a full push up the track to check oil pressure
then a push back towards the start line to fire the motor up. The cars
would then be manually manouvered around to the start line and, more often
than not, the front wheels would flop over due to their severe castorangles. The start line crew would then have to straighten the wheelsbefore the dragster
driver could regain steering control.
