Mal Hawkins - 1968. Mal is the person who kindly sent me some great pictures.This is the first test run on his bike.  It was the second practice session at Santa Pod, around late March, bitterly cold hence the jacket over the leathers!  The bike was unpainted at that stage and still running on petrol.
The officials at Santa Pod didn't know, but he never had a drivers licence at the time, he didn't pass his driving test until October '68. For some reason they didn't ask for evidence of licences on entry forms.  Maybe they thought going in a straight line was much easier than reversing or parallel parking!
