Alf Hagon,  the guy immediately behind Alf has his foot on the block that used to be placed behind the slick to prevent the bike from rolling back out of the stage lights.  This procedure was dropped at the end of '66 in favour of normal starts but persisted in National Sprint Association (NSA) events.
